Glenn’s silicone sculptures invite us to find them both silly and repulsive. They speak to a kitschy pop-cultural everyday with undercurrents of mortality and unease. Mostly cartoon like animals or animal-parts cast using silicone dyed in a sickly green or pink with dynamic mechanical elements, the works jerk or flap uncomfortably causing a pitiful anthropomorphic familiarity in spite of their unsightliness. Superficially perceived as an appealing, smooth surface, but with a texture similar to uncooked meat, the sculptures are tactile and playful, further sanitising the gore present within the works. Glenn’s silicone sculptures leave you laughing uncomfortably, unsure whether you’re finding their physicality amusing or unsettling.
