Chelsie Coates is a conceptual artist mainly concerned with exploring her diasporic mixed race ethnicity. She uses a huge variety of mediums ranging from screenprint, video, film photography, sculpture, installation, and text. Every part of her practice is deeply personal and aims to unpick ideas of race and tread a fine line of appropriation vs. re-appropriation.
