BA (Hons) Fine Art: Painting
I explore themes, such as space, environments and the emerging sense of loss or uncertainty, through abstract painting. I create an idea or condition which could be set through a series of limitations and then push it until all options are exhausted. This method is achieved through mark-making and the use of tools to paint with. Interaction with materials is all part of the process – from objects found within the urban environment to what we wear or use every day. These can include acrylic or household paints, sponges, knives, newspapers, shoes, and plastic. Collaboration is expressed – openly encouraged – towards an interaction within the painting through marks, imagery, or lettering. These paintings can be associated with graffiti, so by placing them in an urban space they could blend in with their surroundings.
