I am a queer artist using the image and connotation of an ‘American Cowboy’ trope to explore my own queerness and masculinity, by appropriating cowboy objects like a ‘hat’ or a ‘lasso’. I use my hands and other body parts to enact cowboy performatives which reference both gender theory by Judith Butler and queer history. Through said performatives I interrogate the materiality of producing merchandise, like booklets or cardboard cut outs, for the audience to engage and interact with.
