"Contemporary Shennong" aims to explore the desire of contemporary youth in China to respond to life and art in their attempts by costuming in a subculture. Subculture behaviour in China is increasingly diversified, transient and full of mobility. But it shows that people's self-identity and desire to express, also people have the right and ability to find their variability and heterogeneity. Shennong is a person in Chinese mythology, who makes medicine by tasting various herbs. Young subculture groups are like the contemporary Shennong's, seeking the antidote for the future through continuous.
