For the second year project we had to use a film from the chosen list to inspire us, i chose the horror comedy "Cabin In The Woods".
In the movie there was a list of creatures that were in the facility, one of the creatures was the wendigo, a cannibalistic spirit from Native American folklore. i was inspired to use the wendigo as my subject for the project as it had strong themes that i could draw from, i chose to make a weapon the wendigo could use.
i researched human bones, native american weapons and motifs, i found out that it was actually common for their weapons to be made from bone so the concept fit together perfectly.
I used model foam to create the the bones of the weapon and mdf for the handle, the teeth were made from a thermoplastic and i used leather string to decorate the piece.
