Kam is a minority ethnic group from Southeast Asia. For generations they have been making the purple and brown fabric with patina. This textile is made only from natural materials yet it managed to achieve the effect of leather or coat fabric. I made a 3D documentation of the Kam traditional costume. From there I designed a zero-waste system to reuse the leftover textile. The final outcome is a shoulder bag.

Kam textile zero-waste bag project

This video is a virtual exhibition of what I've researched and developed out of Kam traditional textile. From its original context, I managed to design a system that's both sustainable and also commercially reasonable. I designed a loop that could introduce this exclusive environmental friendly material into the busy fashion world. Some of my manifestos includes Patron of the arts, Waste is lazy and Family values.
