Gemini

My project is about online course. Due to the spread of the covid-19, we have to take classes through internet at home. Online courses have become the new normal for almost all student groups. My final work is a painting and it is titled Gemini. The painting portraits a group of people who are taking online courses. These people are from ancient times. Most people are doing other things when taking classes. As you can see, people are painting, shopping, sleeping, drawing and talking to others. I name it Gemini because I want to convey the message that people are complicated and they have different faces online and offline. I got my inspiration from a random discussion with a teacher friend who happened to give a lot of online courses to students during the pandemic. I got the idea of creating a sort of fusion work from paintings of two artists Looma and Blais who skillfully combined personal protective equipment like masks and gloves with famous paintings. I chose the characters in my painting from six different oil painting masterpieces and repainted them in a lively and relaxing state.
