Fidget

The inspiration comes from the effort it takes to maintain a safe social distance. This results in a state of almost continuous fidgeting. I felt that I was buffeted from side to side, of a shrinking social space and even physical space afflicted me over a long period, trapping me in a vortex of complex emotions... I used the dots as the main element in the work to form lines and planes. The dots are representative of individuals and how they are disconnected. The depth of dots with contrasting colors creates a sense of perspective in the 2D image. The orange bulbous shape in the center of the picture is an abstracted representation of me, creating a confusing, psychedelic, disorienting sensation that turns the feeling that everything is erratic and chaotic into a tangible responses.
