‘Thus does earthly pomp pass away, Thus does human frailty disappear; Death interrupts our every (monstrous) pleasure. In vain do mortals toil and plan.’ This phrase appears in Dutch artist and printmaker Hendrick Goltzius ‘s works. Homo Bulla, this proverb means man is a bubble. The bubble bearing our hope but pass away easily. I believe it’s relatively appropriate to sum up the year with this proverb. This series of illustration referred to the works of the Vanitas genre and some scenes from my life. In texture and style, imitating silk painting and ink, which is an autochthonous way to recall the past.
