Credit X is a new, free, online map and database of London’s emerging* art scene. It showcases artist-led initiatives, young commercial galleries, spaces that support emerging artists and more established smaller-to-medium-scale galleries that contribute to the emerging* scene in the city. At present, it is difficult to find a simple, comprehensive overview, list or map of London’s emerging* art scene. Credit X solves that problem, allowing you to navigate new paths through the London art scene. Credit X will also include another vital part of London’s art ecosystem: digital and print journals and magazines, and editorial and social platforms that engage with emerging* arts/artists/art spaces. Soft launching in December with an initial listing of galleries, platforms and projects, Credit X will continue to grow, expanding its network on an ongoing basis. Credit X will form a core component of Credit’s campaign to foster collaboration and community within the emerging art scene locally (and eventually it is hoped, nationally) – responses that will help mitigate the impact of the pandemic on London’s emerging* art scene. As a not-for-profit organisation itself, Credit is sustained by a small and passionate volunteer-led team. Its model is one that fosters collaboration across different, often largely disconnected, areas of the art world. Credit X has been developed and produced by a group of committed students from Central Saint Martins’ MA Culture, Criticism and Curation course, in which Credit features as a module choice on the syllabus.
