When visiting a particular park in South London, I found a public toilet. It had an entrance that suggested to me the facility had been there for some decades. It led me to wonder what it was like when public toilets were first installed in Victorian London two centuries ago and how ‘cottaging’ in public toilets has become such an institution in gay culture.
I have edited a series of 30 photographs out of the exposures I made. They form the series Gentlemen (2016) and are presented in book format. The book measures 19cm x 19cm and has an ivory linen hard cover.
