Monteverdi's L’Orfeo is an early Baroque based on the Greek legend of Orpheus. It follows Orpheus’s descent into the underworld to rescue his wife Eurydice. The opera is split into five acts and depicts various deities trying to assist him from spirits, to the God Apollo to Persephone. As a designer, I was interested in visualizing the psychology and liminality of Orfeo’s journey into the underworld. My process explored the link between space and inner thoughts. Depicting the grieving process in an abstracted and fantastical setting.
