"My Soul Dance for Essequibo explores" explores spiritual practices and rituals which span across the African diaspora that bind each culture together. Ashaana uses her own mixed cultural background to guid her reserach, taking inspiration from her guyanese background to inform her practice. Other areas of her research stem from Haitian Drapeau flags and West African festival garments. Ashaana explores the connections between each culture through texrure, colour. pattern and sound through the use of natural beads native to these countries . The collection is a complete knitted festival garment that can be worn separately, each piece embody an element from the 3 cultures and serves as instruments for the wearer
