Bush of Ghosts

Inspired by the book 'The Bush of Ghosts', I explored colours and textures relating to the themes of the book. In this costume I really wanted to develop the traditional 18th Century men's tailoring to interject more modern and artistic finishes. I chose to enhance my character design through intricate surface decoration. From the narrative I took particular inspiration from the vibrant and intense colours and patterns referenced. I translated this this into the decorative embellishment on my tailored jacket and neck piece (hand beading & embroidery). I also experimented with fabric distressing using paints & tools.
