A Simple Meditation Exercise is a poetry performance that creates a never-ending poem piece through the positioning of metal pieces and activation of sound. While performances cannot be fully captured or recreated, regardless any documentation involved, this work suggests an incomplete outcome as a way of embracing the ephemerality of performances. A Simple Meditation Exercise focuses on the action of transforming within media. Through introducing silicone into the performance, the action of placing metal creates footprints that solidifies during and after the event, which acts as an archive that allows fragments of performances to be captured and preserved as an alternative form of work.
