The name of the work is “Flooded city”. It is an installation made of comprehensive materials (staple, soda water, plastics and so on), which represents a city flooded by acidic seawater in 2050. The installation was derived from a report that global warming is causing melting glaciers and rising sea levels nowadays, if global sea levels continue to rise at the current rate, some coastal cities could be directly submerged by 2050. So I stimulated a city covered by seawater in 2050 to show one of the most serious consequences of sea levels rising. People can directly feel the impacts of the climate crisis in real life. I think only when people understand that the climate crisis will really affect their normal life will people know that climate issues are closely related to everyone. Through this installation, I want to raise awareness and reflection on climate change and alert people to pay attention to the climate crisis.
