I find the use of illustrations to portray food quite interesting during the visit to Sichuan Cuisine Museum in Chengdu. I decide to use illustrations in conjunction with interaction design to depict one of my favorite dishes: Zhang Fei beef. The dish is said to be derived from a story: A thousand years ago, the prominent three-kingdom era general Zhang Fei defeated the intruding enemy at Lang Zhong city, Sichuan. He cooked pickled beef to reward his soldiers. The beef was cooked with a special method—black on the outside and red inside, yet eminently succulent. Zhang Fei protects Lang Zhong city at the Yangtze River like a brave bullfighter, like a brave matador. And the menacing bull represents the malevolent enemy.
