Through the famous statement from Twigger-Holroyd (2017) discussion, "Dressing can be seen as a practice of constructing identity through the materials of fashion", the scope of this essay is to give an appreciation of how fashion has been shaping identities, with an emphasis put on the heavy support of music on that purpose. Then, the essay focuses on the articulation of youth subcultures' identities through the interdependence of music and fashion, how they strengthened and empowered minor communities' identities instead of simply constructing them. Finally, it explores the marketing side of the collaboration of music and fashion through industry cases, hence their influence on identities and the hypothesis of the shaping of ephemeral ones, due to the trend-led facet of Fashion and Music.
