This video was shot using a drone, at a time of day which created evenly portioned shadows, allowing accurate depictions of the participants characters, while shooting from above. Investigating their movements, calling for an awareness of our complacent tendency to follow others. I give three simple rules to participants, then allow the piece to unfold “organically”, displaying differences between conscious and unconscious thinking, obedience in comparison with the unconscious cognition. Swarm behaviour is the collective motion of a large number of self-propelled entities, there’s no leader in the murmuration, it is mass thinking and movement. Here the participants also swarm, the existence of gentle guidance compels their movement.
