The ‘Confession' tapestry is one of the major outcomes of my final major project in BA(Hons) Fashion Textiles: Embroidery. Each pattern here stands for an answer or a story from my survey participants about desire and the thoughts they have been struggling with. Those answers can be small problems such as not wanting put polish on their nails to conform to an idealist male society or bigger issues such as wishing for world peace. If we think about what makes people desire such things, it would reveal concerns we can ruminate about. I hope when people see it, it can bring some new to them, It can either be they find out somebody is thinking in that way, or maybe find themselves are not the only one who have those issues, then somehow feel accompanied. I also hope the participants felt ore or less relieved after speaking out those thoughts. I also invited people to sew random stitches without any restrictions or rules.

The Confession Tapestry by Tyran Chen

The sounds in the video are created by objects linked to this tapestry, for example, embroidery needle, beads, scratching the tapestry, or heels, water associated with the relevant stories.
