Nowadays children’s play spaces often look very similar, and the design process can be dominated by assumptions and stereotypes. We can find playgrounds consisting only of basic equipment, fencing and rubber safety surfacing caters for a narrow range of play experiences everywhere. Designers should create play spaces that provide a far wider range of play activities and environments than they have in the past.
This project is aimed at refurbishing the ordinary and stereotyped Pelican Estate’s playground into a more imaginative and dramatic playground while keeping the existing contexts.
