This dissertation explores whether studios are necessary for the emergence of Art. I asked six artists for their feedback on the question, ‘What does having a studio mean for you and how does it influence/affect your practice, if at all?’ Giving an historical background of art studios; I looked at the importance and role of the studio to some artists; outlining how important the creative industries are to the UK economy; exploring the impact of gentrification to the affordability of studio spaces. .................................................................................................. It is a passionate topic I seek to engage in further dialogue. I invite anyone reading this who shares an interest in this broad topic, to please get in touch with me. I am open to individuals, ideas sharing, publishing teams and collaborations to evolve this exciting conversation An essential part of the enquiry is, I am looking to make a publication with an independent publishing team. For anyone reading this, interested in collaborating, please contact me: danieljnorie@gmail.com Thank you for taking the time to read it. **Currently** How has the Covid lockdown impacted artists and their studio practice?
