For my final self directed project I decided to re-create a blouse/skirt from a photograph of my Great Grandma Selina Minnie Bright. After recently discovering the true identity of my biological Grandfather, I realised I had a complete family I never even knew about. I found out Selina was part of a female dockyard engineering group during World War One and I couldn't help but be curious about the strength and independence of this woman. I estimated this photograph to be taken around 1912-17.
Edwardian Undergarments
I made a pair of drawers and corset from original Edwardian patterns & used an original Edwardian camisole.
Edwardian Undergarments
I made a base bodice for the top blouse to drape from. I used an original Janet Arnold pattern.
Final Image
I edited the photograph to resemble the original a little better by adding noise, blur, sepia and pixelation.
