For this S/S 18 collaboration the main focus for inspiration came from looking at a group of women called the Haenyeo which originate from the small province of Jeju within North Korea. This all female group of women free divers are trained to dive up to 30 metres at a time holding there breaths for over 3 minutes using minimal equipment. We were inspired by the heavy duty clothing, ropes and helmets and created a range of textiles that looked at the negative space within these objects.
