Hengyang Wang (Anya) is a textile designer based in London who specialised in printing and has been showing her style and concepts through a wide range of techniques from craftmanship like bundle dye and flower pounding to excellent hand drawing and digital printing. As a designer, Anya is mainly interested in modernising traditional cultures especially Chinese concepts and aesthetics as it is where she’s rooted. Anya’s most recent project is a good example of her unique style, where she combines the Eastern and Western culture, ancient and modern, and craft and digitals, to show new angles and possibilities to push people to rethink how our culture can be maintained in a modern lifestyle. Anya also has an interest in the fine art field. She believes that the beauty and potential of textiles are much beyond the fashion industry, and has been making fine art pieces based on her textile knowledge.
