London College of Fashion
BA (Hons) Costume for Performance
Elio is a Queer working class multimedia textile artist and costume maker from Bristol, now residing in North London. He has a lifelong passion for the art of craft and an in-depth understanding and appreciation of theatre and other forms of performance art, which led him to study BA (Hons) Costume for Performance at London College of Fashion straight from his A Levels.Through his love of Queer history and subcultural fashion, he has built a solid foundation and set of skills surrounding both contemporary structural and historical draped costumes, but is especially interested in pattern cutting and textile work, as well as embellishment and detailing. Some of his costume influences include New Romantic fashion, Wildean Aestheticism, modern & contemporary musical theatre, and Magical Realism films and TV shows such as SYFY’s The Magicians and BBC’s Ghosts.Though his time at LCF, along with his work for a well-known drag studio and his current work with the National Portrait Gallery, he is well prepared to enter the professional costume industry, and is excited to see what the future holds.
