About me

Katarzyna Nozka is a polish costume designer. She started her adventure with costume throughout her high school years and continues to develop during her undergraduate studies in Wimbledon Collage of Arts. Her inspiration comes mainly from 70s punk and glam rock, as well as fashion silhouette of the 20th century. She is mainly interested in fantasy costumes, the beautiful world of drag, era of Blitz Kids and all of the 80’s. In her designs she likes to combine all of the above to create something unique and extravagant. Within her work we can observe a contrast between vintage and modern, tacky and tasteful. She embodies very strong female characters within her design work looking up to female Disney villains. Her work is very much opera and fantasy orientated with hints of modern film. In the future she is looking into working free lance within the Drag Queen community as well as hopefully working on fantasy and sci-fi film.
People that have made a big impact on her work are definitely Tim Burton and his collaborations with Colleen Atwood, Leigh Bowery, Gerald Scarfe and his designs for the opera. She is experienced in the wide range of areas such as: costume drawing, prosthetic makeup, pattern making and metal sculpture.
