Ruby Cocker - Graduate

London College of Fashion

BA (Hons) Hair, Make-up and Prosthetics for Performance

About me

My name is Ruby Cocker and I have recently graduated from the London College of Fashion studying BA(Hons) “Hair, make-up, and prosthetics for performance”. I’m keen on gaining some practical experience in a creative environment, with a particularly interested in working within the make-up, wig and hair industry. I would say my main passions lie in hairstyle and make-up application. Make-up application has come from an early age and then through trying to pursue that through college and university. I found a love of hair styling as I just found it a great material to work with as well as being extremely versatile. During my time at University, I have gained vast training in all aspects of hair, wigs, make-up, and prosthetics. My primary interests lay in wig-making, hairdressing, and make-up application, as I enjoy creating realistic and experimental work. I adore the hair and make-up industry due to its creative freedom, and the opportunity to portray a character narrative through make-up and hair styling.  My strongest soft skill is my interpersonal relations; I think working in customer-facing jobs throughout my time at the University and before, has really helped me understand ways of working with more difficult clientele and allowed me to build confidence, my self-assurance in my abilities. Learning how to take criticism and knowing when is best to make adaptations. As an enthusiastic post-graduate with a keen interest in gaining experience and learning new things and progressing in this industry, I would be very grateful to be considered for an opportunity to work in the film, TV, and theatre industry.
