I work in a variety of media to reveal connections and disconnections with the earth. Ideas lead to research which leads to key materials being chosen to explore possible visualisations. Recent work has invoked the earth’s magnetic field to register an invisible force which in turn carries the metaphor. This fundamental force of nature is something most animals sense via their magneto receptive ability, but which humans appear to have lost to evolution. Recurring themes such as the natural environment and magnetism permeate many recent works, particularly ‘Dead Reckoning’ , ‘Lark Descending’, ‘Fields of influence’ and 'The Tempest Prognosticator'. I place an importance on craft traditions as a palatable means of carrying uncomfortable present day truths.
