BA (Hons) Fashion Jewellery
As a Chinese jewellery designer, my work explores the dynamic relationships between the wearer, the jewellery, and the viewer, promoting inclusivity, connection, and mutual understanding. With a background in silversmithing and goldsmithing, I translate conceptual ideas into tangible crafts through a "thinking through making" design practice. I initiate design ideas with sketching with pencil, physical samples, playing with materials on hands and positioning on the body before seeking for extended possibility and efficiency in contemporary technology including 3D printing, laser-cutting and printing. With a strong commitment to craftsmanship, I always slightly reshapes printed models by hand. This ensures each piece retains the warmth and touch of the maker, fostering a deeper connection between the jewellery and the human body.
