Yao Ruitian lives and works in Guangzhou, Shenzhen and London. His work combines performance, moving images, everyday objects, with the living environment and space. Through his cross-media artistic practice, he seeks to explore the conflicts between the individual and social characteristics such as urban spatial development and interpersonal relationships within the context of East Asian culture. Building on this, he attempts to deconstruct current social norms and behavioural conventions, offering a poetic perspective to imbue them with new cultural and practical significance. In doing so, he reshapes the real contours of everyday spaces, inviting a renewed perception.
