Central Saint Martins
BA (Hons) Fashion: Fashion Design with Knitwear
Rhiannon Davies is a Fashion Designer and artist based in London, graduating from the Fashion Knitwear course at Central Saint Martins. She was born in Somerset England (1997), but hails from Welsh descent, so nods to both of these backgrounds in her final graduate collection. Davies is noted for her manipulation of texture, with the use of sustainable approaches to fashion and textile design. As a deep thinker, her fashion projects often become personal memoirs, or streams of consciousness. She likes to go further and curate an bigger experience for her garments to be received. This is often through music and movement under the character name of Swim Silky. With the current climate and fashion labels contemplating on abandoning seasonal shows, the 23 year-old student’s final collection paves the way for alternative modes of fashion marketing. Through fine art, audio, and movement she seeks to curate many aspects of the fashion experience. Furthermore, Rhiannon also adopts a more ethical/sustainable approach to design, from the use of bandages, synthetic hair and up cycled saddles, each look features repurposed materials, objects which are bought back to life. Hoping to to explore her theme further in higher education, Rhiannon Davies is determined to expand upon the themes in her graduate collection, maintaining a musical approach to fashion design. She intends on pursue this in a masters degree upon graduation.
