Camberwell College of Arts
BA (Hons) Fine Art: Photography
My practice explores introspection and nature and their interaction with each other. In my work these elements combine to reveal personal revelations, new worlds or forgotten memories. Most of my work involves elements of my upbringing while exploring my vulnerabilities and strengths. In essence, my works are a method of exploring my sense of place and understanding of self in the universe. The work comes from a personal starting point but then takes on a life that is relatable to each individual viewer. My artistic practice involves photography, film, drawing, sculpture and installation. My work often crosses disciplines as the project demands. I employ different mediums within works to explore the full spectrum of expression within the individual works contextual meaning. I use materials that feed into the conceptual meaning within the work. For example, I often combine drawing and photographs with projection. In my work, I often examine traces of memory through objects that can never fully convey the experience of their original location. Their fragmentary nature means that they cannot be a legitimate representation of their context and personal ties. I often explore the passage of time by highlighting faded memories to form, not knowledge, but a series of reflections.
