Charlene Namukasa is a recent LCF womenswear graduate who seeks to explore how intellectual fashion can be which lends very well to the name of her label ‘KITABO’ which translates to ‘book’ in her native language, Luganda. Her graduate collection looks at photography of the Bamako society by the famous photographers, Malick Sidibe and Seydou Keita showing the new postcolonial Mali. Inspired by the post colonial narrative they photographed, she created a collection based on the cross section between the African traditional wear and European tailoring.
