About me

Jiayi Lu is an artist and researcher working primarily with sculpture, sound, space, video, installation, text and poetry within their social and cultural contexts. Most of my works are composed of a tactile assortment, videos and written phrases. The installations are often shown within my living environments which comprise objects like metal sculpture, readymade sculpture, sound sculpture, architecture or text. I explored the temporal and intuitive aspects of space; from scenes overlooked in everyday life or urban spaces, occurring in history or fictitious memories. I‘d like to reconstruct narratives from existing objects and videos utilizing text. And I am interested in exploring in the nature of spatial experience and the potential of the language. So, I try to maintain a fictitious relationship with space as it is wrapped in its reality.
