MA Fine Art: Painting
Gayle Ebose paints portraits of black Christian women within the Church. She responds to a blind spot in history by shining a light on a community of believers, whose existence challenges stereotypes and biases that exist within the complex world of identity politics. Her work redirects our focus to God, showcasing His power to sustain His people through life’s varying trials. She searches for the divine with the mundane, depicting her subjects in casual, laughing, quiet and contemplative ways.
