The medical and biological elements in magical realist fictions remind me of medicals during the middle ages. Looking through medieval manuscript, just as characters in magical realist fictions, due to the limited scientific support, medieval people have massive of how human body function and how to cure disease. According to medieval thought, plants and animals in particular were frequently given symbolic meanings or valued for their healing properties. That’s when I came up with the idea of combing medical herbs or animals and human body part.
