This project created a sculptural work and a short film inspired by photosynthesis in plants.
The sculpture titled “ reflections on the blood of plants” is made with chlorophyll, resin and mirrors. It invites us to tecognize the close connection between plants and human beings. The molecular structure of haemoglobin present in human blood and chlorophyll in plants is almost identical, yet their colour and function are vastly different. The sculpture contemplated this close bond despite the overt differences.
The film titled “The perpetual machine” explores the human obsession to search for a 100 percent efficient transmission of energy. Yet , have we not realised that plants achieve this everyday?
Humanity has much to learn from the humble nature that surrounds us.
