This project locates functional apparel design within the context of fashion industry practice and inclusive design. External contributing factors to how adaptive sportswear is perceived are media portrayals of disability, engineering practice, and critical disability studies.
Lateral Methodology
This methodology is inductive and cyclical, using findings from a literature and practice review, stakeholder interviews, user workshops, and stakeholder evaluation to produce a toolkit to guide designers to sportswear inclusion. Mapping, reflective journaling, writing, and sketching are used to articulate results.
