My series 'Vida', was inspired by my own personal re-awakening experience as a result of practicing yoga every day during lockdown. I chose a fresh pastel colour pallet for the images to allude to ideas of positivity and growth. The lotus flower is an important component throughout the series to symbolise enlightenment and self-regeneration. As the Lotus continues to bloom in the murkiest of waters, the female subject, influenced by powerful historical figures including Venus and Frida Kahlo, rises from the monotonous routine enforced by these current restrictive times, and flourishes into a beautiful being.
