The series “Madres Terra” consist of 15 photographs based on the interaction between the soil and a group of mothers, as they both are life givers. In a photography session a new world is created in which the models, without any physical effort, levitate inside the soil and are suspended in other medium, in another world. During the burial ritual, the soil is connected to every pore of the body and soul, representing a special moment in which the known physical world is altered, the body changes, symbolizing the renaissance of these mothers. In September 2008, a group of mothers in Soacha, Colombia denounced the disappearance and the death of their sons. An investigation revealed that some soldiers of the Colombian Army presented young innocent men as a guerrilla member killed in battle, to collect financial rewards offered by the Colombian Government. Since then, more cases of forced disappearance made by the military had been discovered. The mothers of Soacha have been seeking for justice during the last nine years without rest to preserve the memory of their sons. The civil armed conflict in Colombia has affected the entire population of the country for more than 60 years.
