Koala scented candles to commemorate the 2019 Australian Fires
I am Yoyo, and my project is a reflection on the background of the climate crisis. My purpose is to raise people's attention to the climate crisis and the survival problems faced by koalas. The climate crisis has led to global warming, intensified bushfires, and changed the nutritional value of eucalyptus leaves. Koalas lack food, and the number of koalas is rapidly decreasing. The sustained forest fires in Australia in 2019 destroyed 80% of the natural habitat of koalas, so I used paraffin to make koala candles, and then made a black candlestick to simulate a tree scorched by the fire, and a card in the shape of eucalyptus leaves. I put eucalyptus seeds in the card so that people can plant saplings. I hope that people will take photos of melting koala candles and sprouting seeds on social media to make people pay more attention to the climate crisis.
