The Drowned City

We live in luxury and refinement, but we are blind to the impending crisis. As the city drowns, tears well up. If we choose to ignore our extinction-threatened friends, they will do the same in times of crisis.--------------------------------------------------------------------- The unpredictable weather and rising sea levels make me concerned about the possibility of cities flooding in the future. However, people are only concerned with how to live a more comfortable life. We drink coffee and discuss how to construct more tall buildings. We discuss how to find well-paying jobs in the fast-paced metropolis. We discuss the most recent cell phones, bags, clothing, and luxuries. We are quick to acquire new possessions and quick to discard old ones. We never think about the implications of human behavior and never discuss the future crises that our cities may face. My work attempts to connect the possible future scenery to real life, using funny ways to bring attention to such issues.
