MY INSPIRATION
My inspiration began with my surroundings, when I moved from countryside to city. I explored the natural land across the road and took photography, combined with graphic, becoming my sketches. First, I felt a contrast, the light and noise are so strong , and the woods are quiet. This made me worry about whether the trees can proceed normal photosynthesis at night. Lights, cars are tools for human service, but they cause light and sound pollution to nature.
ARTIST STATEMENT
I derive the inspiration of my work from nature and Chinese philosophy. My creations aim to explore the relationship between human beings and nature. Born as a Generation-Z in this highly digital era, I question the impact of the current social media environment and criticize the negative effects brought by the prevalent information overflow, which leads to problems like perfection anxiety, reinforced stereotypes, and etc., which I intend to address in my work. Moreover, I create my work as a calling and a hope for people to return to nature. I also try to create a safe haven for those who are seeking a peace of mind in the fast-paced society. Specialized in visual communication, in my work, I communicate with my audience in visual language, and further inspire them to interact with my work. My visual design is mainly recreation consisting of text, symbols, pictures and graphics. Most of my works contains originally designed abstract graphics derived from my experiments and photography. DEVELOPMENT
Entering the production stage, it was difficult to choose the material at the beginning, because it cannot be too hard or too soft. Finally, I chose clay which is easy to shape. Then I stuck in the design, and I experimented with making a lot of small monuments, but I found it meaningless. Since that, I tried to incorporate conceptual ideas into it, I tried to mixed with different materials which link to different meanings. I divided the main body of the monument into two to correspond to cutting trees. The circle in the middle is earth, cutting trees leading our earth to die, so the other half of it with the yellow of the desert. The left of the crack means that the original earth with pure color, and the right part represents that earth was left desert and tin after being damaged.
RESEARCH
Later, I started researching online, with browsing many beautiful tombstones, I marveled at the romance of those designs. This influenced me and coincided with my thoughts. In my understanding, the death of a tree is not completely negative, because its seeds fall into the soil, life and death are accompanied. Thus, I would like to create a poetic atmosphere for my audience.

Lights, cars are tools for human service, but they cause light and sound pollution to nature. So, I find that people usually hold an anthropocentric perspective to plants, which they do not see these living-beings as precious life. And, I realized that humans can feel pain, but plants can not cry or scream when they be hurt. I related this to tombstones, a form of human commemoration of their death, and it was the reason that I decided to erect a monument for plants.
