Persistent global warming is making climate change a direct impact on people's daily lives. In the summer of 2022, a growing climate crisis has swept the northern hemisphere with record-breaking heat and drought. The news that the water levels of major European rivers such as the Rhine and the Danube have fallen severely reminds me of the seriousness of the drought. It inspires me to use visual language to provoke viewers to this issue. “Drought” and “water” as two opposing elements are the key point of this project. But how can they be linked? I used design software to visualise the “heatwave”. The mud and rocks that are exposed after the river has dried up show a wave-like shape. However, similar textures bring opposite implications through a strong clash of colours. Climate crisis is no longer a distant concept but a clear experience which affect people's livelihoods and economies.
