The research started with Hew Locke’s work The Procession. In the exhibition, images of the colonial architecture of Locke’s childhood Guyana emblazon the flags and their bearers, its flooded fields and rotten wooden walls vanishing under rising sea levels. This remind me of a film Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. The film tells the story of the interstellar war caused by humans that let to the demise of the planet Muir, and the survivors were forced to flee their homes. The pictures I show depicted the story of the Pearl Tribe’s original homeland from beautiful holiness to destruction by human.
