Throughout this project, I explored the notion of distortion through the female lens. I investigated the idea of distortion and juxtaposition which resulted in my research on objects on the body, such as corsets and how they physically distort. Additionally, I looked at the historical importance of shoulder pads, as I played with the idea of traditional masculinity in juxtaposition to sexual liberation of femininity. Throughout this project I aimed to bring awareness to the viewer about how women are sexualised. Delving into the idea of the objectification and commodification of women in my final piece, I discovered a personal connection by exploring the theme of the grotesque and how it is inherently associated with the feminine. By realising this visualisation, I created bulbous forms which were clustered around the body in different areas to highlight areas of sexualisation whilst making the viewer feel uncomfortable as the model is aware of the objectification of them
