The work utilizes ancestral knowledge of textile art within Kichwa tradition to create a hand-tufted wool rug in the image of a Quina tree stump, the national tree of Ecuador. The piece explores the imperial history of this tree and the ensuing colonization of quinine that resulted in the displacement of multiple indigenous communities, the repercussions of which are still felt to this day.
