Moon Worship

The project 'Moon Worship' explores the heritage of traditional culture around the unique local Mid-Autumn Moon Worship ritual in the Zhejiang region of China. With the impact of globalisation and modernisation, many traditional cultures are disappearing among the new generation in China, and through my project I hope to arouse the interest of Chinese youth (aged 12-24) in the culture of moon worship and to reflect on the current situation of its gradual disappearance. I use storytelling to present the Mid-Autumn Festival moon worship rituals in the Zhejiang region through a shadow puppet video. I combine 2 traditional cultures with the clash of traditional Chinese colours and combine the theory of colour psychology to present the emotions of the people involved in the Mid-Autumn Moon worship rituals.
